Water for Fonko - Ethiopia
In June 2011, Sister Hirut Tadesse paid her annual visit to Italy. Together we discussed about the on-going projects in the villages of Fonko and Lareba. After the previous visit in April 2011, it emerged that the most important problem in the entire community of Fonko is water. Nowadays the population only have access to non-drinkable water which supplies the fountains and the animals’ drinking trough. This water comes form a lake which will very soon dry out. During Sister Hirut’s stay we had the opportunity to have various meetings to define the Water Project in Fonko and above all to sign new important partnerships. Thanks to D.P.& V. Associati, Gas Energia S.p.A, Idee Migranti Onlus, Seva - energia pulita srl and Fonko’s local authorities water will soon become a reality for this village. The WATER PROJECT aims to build a well with water pipes which will supply the already existing water points and the 3 new ones.
