More victories for Katia Figini

The trail runner Katia Figini is going to run her 3rd race after her victories in the Sahara Race (October 2010) and the Oman Race (November 2010). All these 5 extreme races are part of the Run for Women project: 5 deserts in 5 continents, one for each letter of the world “WOMEN”. A challenge to put the spotlight on women’s harsh conditions in many parts of the world. If Katia manages to carry out this extremely difficult task, she will set up a world record as the only women ever to have run from 100 to 280 km in 5 extreme races across 5 continents in one year.
Her next race will be in Atacama (Chile) and will take place on the 2nd March. This competition includes 9 laps for a total of 273 km across very steep mountains.
A new challenge to prove that sometimes it is possible to achieve what appears to be impossible.
This athlete is sustained by the Fondiaria Sai Foundation which promotes women’s emancipation through the WOMEN to be projects. These projects contribute to the economical, cultural and social growth in the world of women throughout the world.
At the end of each race Katia opens a banner with the WOMEN to be logo. A symbolic way to send a message of hope to women.
