The Foundation and Suraya Pakzad together for afghan women
In January 2011 the Foundation started a collaboration with “Voice of Women” and association which has been working since 1998 to improve the conditions of Afghan women. This association and the President Suraya Pakzad sustain the women who have been outcast by Afghan society. These women are given shelter, a place to feel safe and also the opportunity to take part in training courses. In November 2010, during one of her visit in Italy, Suraya Pakzad met the President of the Foundation - Giulia Ligresti – and a collaboration in favour of Afghan women’s conditions was the result of their meeting. This is the 3rd project in Afghanistan for the Foundation. This time the Foundation helped Suraya to rescue a 12 year old child bride. A second meeting has been already planned between Mrs. Pakzad and Mrs. Ligresti to develop new strategies of intervention for Afghan women.
