Solidarity. Commitment. Project

Letter from the Chairman

Returning from my travels to various countries of the world – where the paradises of tourism and culture often border the poorest areas of the planet – I have always kept within me the memory of the faces of the children who asked nothing of me, but who certainly deserved something more organised than begging, however consistent it may be.
Over the years, this, my personal sensitivity for the least well-off and those who are suffering, has driven me to become a promoter – together with my family – of the numerous decisions made by Corporate Social Responsibility that have seen the Fondiaria Sai Group play a leading role in this sector as well, at the same time fully aware that running a business today also means assuming social responsibilities when making business decisions that must also include consideration of the quality of life in the structure that we operate in and, more generally, of the entire planet.
In 2004, to answer the looks of these children and consistent with the Group’s policies of corporate social responsibility, I decided to set up the Fondiaria Sai Foundation, an organisation entirely devoted to promoting the “culture of solidarity” in the world. A Foundation that cannot and does not want to limit itself purely to the function – however important - of a “distributing organisation”. The people that work here - starting with me – in fact, follow the initiatives step by step, making contact with the various operators in the various nations and going on location to check and control that the objectives are indeed being reached. A project that all of us follow personally with commitment, passion and above all, with compassion.
