Building opportunities for growth
In October 2008, in the community of Dango (8 km from the centre of Boussouma) 400 children had their first day at school.
With the support and authorisation of local leaders, seniors, inhabitants and above all the Ministry of Education, the Foundation completed the construction of the school for the pupils of the village and those from neighbouring towns.
Today
In September 2009 there were 600 students attending the school.
The two school buildings consist of three classrooms that can each take between 90 to 95 students, a storehouse and an office. There is also a school canteen and separate accomodation for teachers.
The Foundation also built a well which supplies water for the entire structure.
Since 2008 funds have continually been given to assure that there is always a constant supply of food in the school canteen.
Future
The project is continuously evolving. The objective is to have four schools in place as quickly as possible in order to provide children and teachers with the most complete accommodation possible.
In 2009 the Foundation set up a new project - Italia Boussum’ Tomat Project - especially designed to improve the life of the local women.
