First phase - June 2010

The Fondiaria Sai Foundation, in collaboration with the Cattolica University of Milan, the Herat University, the Ministry of Defence, the Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT), has set up a workshop in journalism for 20 female students from the Herat University. This workshop, co-ordinated by professor Marco Lombardi, has become a fully intensive course in journalistic reports.
WOMEN to be is the result of this course. It is a monthly magazine written by female students of the Herat University. It is a way of entering Afghan daily life. Pictures and reports introduce us to a different way of living. The magazine is also a project of the Foundation.

Second phase - February/March 2011

On February 25th WOMEN to be Photo Exhibition opens in Herat (Afghanistan). True photos to show the real everyday life in Afghanistan. Finally we are able to see another side of the country through the eyes of their women. The exhibition is a synthesis of the reportage published in the first 6 numbers (July - December 2010) of our on-line WOMEN to be magazine. The event is the result of the profitable collaboration with the Cattolica University of Milan and the Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) of Herat. Thanks to the virtual exhibition on this web site everyone will be able to take part in this event. In March 2011 our journalists attended a new workshop in video journalism once again held by professor Marco Lombardi (Cattolica University).

Third phase - Autumn 2011

In Autumn 2011 we are planning to invite some of the Journalism students to Italy. This will allow them to attend a course in Journalism at the Cattolica University in Milan and to take part in a workshop with two important Italian newspapers. This new experience will give our reporters new opportunities and allow our on-line magazine - WOMEN to be - to evolve even more.
