In 2005 Arte-fatto Onlus constituted Royah – a female textile laboratory to encourage the emancipation of Afghan women. Royah – the “vision” in Dari language– is an atelier in Kabul where a group of women work.
These women create contemporary fashion by using Afghan textiles and Italian expertise.
Aims
This activity has allowed 30 women to live a normal life for at least part of the day. Royah could be the beginning of a change.
These women who have no professional skills finally have the chance to learn a profession which can enable them to be independent in the future.
This project has a double goal to export Afghan top quality handmade clothes and at the same time to create job opportunities for women.
This fashion house is bringing about a positive change in the Kabul community.
Tomorrow
Our Foundation financed the realization of a special collection for autumn/winter 2011. This is just a beginning in fact we hope to involve more and more women in the future.
