RUN FOR WOMEN
5 Deserts, 5 Continents: a world record for women
Being a woman can be very difficult: violence, ignorance, hunger and thirst, conflicts, illnesses, persecution, submission and oppression characterise women’s conditions in every part of the world. These problems are not easily resolved but we are struck by the fact that their conditions are often ignored.
Katia Figini has decided to put spotlights on the women in difficulty by personally being the testimonial of the force and the courage which distinguish them: she will run across 5 deserts in 5 continents and establish an exceptional world record. The first woman to do so in the space of a year. A race representing every letter of the word WOMEN: a way to show the many realities we pretend not to see.
When a commitment becomes a project
Only an athlete with such determination and experience as Katia Figini could accept this extraordinary challenge: for this reason the Foundation chose her to represent the projects WOMEN to be aimed at the economic, social and cultural growth in the world of women. Not by assistance but through a concrete effort to supply know-how and more possibilities for a true development, which allows the community to be fully independent. Sustain, accompany and support are the key words of all the projects of the Foundation. These words become deeds every day.

"In the deserts I have met many different faces and glances of women who stared at me out of curiosity and embarassment. I knew that our culture and our lives were very different but in exchanging glances I have always been aware of a complicity, a sense of solidarity and pride. A sense of mutual belonging to be a women"
(Katia Figini)
